What is BREADFEST?
BreadFest is a fun community event celebrating bread and bakers in Northeast Nebraska. It will feature baking competitions open to all home and cottage bakers. There will also be activities for kids, educational opportunities, product samples, and a chance to meet bakers and artisans who produce bread-related products (butter, honey, jelly, coffee, etc.)
Who can be a vendor?
This event is open to all bread and pastry bakers. This includes sourdough, yeasted breads, and gluten free!
We also want those who produce bread-adjacent products such as honey, butter, cheese, and jams & jellies.
This year's event is FREE to all vendors.
Vendors should be prepared to sell and samples their products.
This will be a normal business day for North Fork Bread Co. and a great opportunity to get your products more visibility to new potential customers.

Anyone who loves bread, pastry, and bakeries! This year's event is FREE to the public and open to ALL AGES!
What baking competitions will there be?
Here are the categories of baking competitions we would like to see (but will ultimately depend on vendor participation):
"Best Classic Sourdough" - breads in this category should have NO inclusions and be 100% naturally leavened. Ingredients must be: flour, water, salt
"Best Flavored Sourdough" - breads in this category MUST have inclusions and must be 100% naturally leavened. Let your imagination run wild.
"Best Scoring/Design" - who can design or score the prettiest loaf
"Best Gluten-Free Bread" - breads in this category should be 100% gluten-free
"Best Pastry" - products in this category can range from cinnamon rolls to kolaches, from croissants to donuts
"Best Cookie" - from traditional to inventive
How will they be judged? This is a "people's choice" competition. Attendees will sample and vote during their time at the event. Winners will be announced at the end.
All products must be prepared OFF-SITE. There will be no baking performed on-site.
As the host of this event, North Fork Bread Co. will NOT participate in the competitions. We will tally the votes and announce the winner!

What activities will there be?
Guess the grain! Correctly identify unlabeled jars of wheat berries and flours.
Mini-Baker Zone! Samples of dough will be provided for kids to play with, shape into loaves, and have fun with.
Bread & Butter Bar! You're the chef as you combine flavored butters and jams to sample on small slices of bread.
*for the "Kids at Heart" (21+) Wine & Beer tasting with Bread Pairing throughout the day
